Personal Biography of Brian T. Peterson, DVM

Brian Thomas Peterson was born in 1960 at Doctor's Hospital in San Diego. The son of Harold and Dorothy Peterson grew up in the Sunset Cliffs area of Point Loma. He attended Sunset View Elementary, Dana Junior High, and Point Loma High.

Brian Peterson earned his B.A. in animal physiology from U.C. San Diego in 1983. Growing up in a household full of pets, working in the family retail furniture business and his interest in biology led him towards veterinary medicine. In 1986, he applied and was accepted to U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, earning his D.V.M. in 1990.

Upon graduation, Dr. Peterson returned to San Diego to practice veterinary medicine. He worked three years for Kindness Pet Clinic. In 1993, he purchased the practice that became Friars Road Pet Hospital.

Dr. Peterson's professional interests include internal medicine, feline medicine in particular, and dermatology, including diseases of the ear. His personal interests include riding his road bike, reading historical non-fiction, and fresh- and saltwater fishing. He shares his life with his wife, Linda, his daughter, Emily, their multiple rescued housecats and their Shepherd mixed-breed dog.
