Stories of Recovery...
Treasure...
Little Treasure, came to the pet hospital in a very bad shape. She  was severely dehydrated and  very anemic from being covered in fleas.  She was around half a pound and only 4 weeks old. Two of her litter mates had already died most likely from anemia due to fleas.
Dr Peterson selected Riley, our hospital cat, to be the one to donate blood to save this little kitten. Of course, Riley was thrilled with the idea....
After having placed a catheter on this little girl,  with the transfusion, antibiotics, vitamins and after spending a lot of time removing fleas, we were all crossing our fingers that she would pull through.
And, she has turned out to be a little trooper, next morning she was up, and moving around. We had to bottle feed her, but she had an appetite and was curiously walking around.
She got a flea bath (didn't think that was too fun) and she was already ready to go back to her owner the next day....HAPPY ENDING FOR TREASURE!!
The wonders of Microchipping..
We had a new client make an appointment for her cat to get spayed. The very responsable lady had found a female cat at her appartment complex a couple of weeks prior, she had tried to find out if the very friendly cat had owners already by placing posters around her appartment building, but without success.
As the client was dropping of the kitty for the spay appointment in the morning, she did mention to us how she just recently had found the cat. Routinely we then scanned for a microchip. And there it was...The kitty had a chip!  We contacted the Microchip company, who informed us that the owner lived very close by. The client got the info of the actual owner and we contacted her also.  A happy reunion !! That is why we always recommend getting your pet microchipped!!
